A race over one thousand miles long? Yes, that's how far dog sled teams run each year in Alaska's Iditarod Trail Race. Fifty drivers, sleds and several hundred dogs leave Anchorage to race 1,049 miles to Nome. And the winners get there just in time to enjoy the Nome winter carnival in March.
In some places of the world, dog sledding is still a common way to travel. Think for a minute about other ways people travel. Now look at the clock. Time yourself. List all the ways to travel you can think of in three minutes. Get ready, get set, go!!
