THE ULTIMATE ADVENTURE RACE "THE LAST GREAT RACE ON EARTH"

National Historic Trail Marker Iditarod Lease and Coaching Program DREAM A DREAM DOG FARM has the dogs, the facilities, the equipment, the gear, the veterinarian expertise, the trails, the coaching and the experience to make your dream of completing the Ultimate Adventure a reality. We have all had dreams, but to make them come true, to make them more than wistful thoughts, you need a plan. We offer the means to reach a goal: To Go to Nome By Dog Team -People have done it- Why Cant You!
Train and Live at our Racing Kennel We have completed twenty-six long distance races over a 1000 miles on the Iditarod or Yukon Quest trail. We have completed numerous 200 and 300 mile races. We know the routes, the weather, the logistics, the rules and we know we can get you to the finish line too. It takes experience and proven performance to do that and we have that at Dream a Dream Dog Farm. Our dogs are exceptional and a privilege to drive-enjoy yourself. We only accept one new Musher per year so plan on personal attention.
Qualifying for the Iditarod
This is a two year program mandated by the Official Iditarod Rules which require beginning or rookie mushers to qualify or prove their abilities before being allowed to enter the Iditarod Race. Race Rules require a combined 500 miles or a 200 mile race and a 300 mile race.
You arrive on November 1st and spend five months learning basic regimens of feeding, training and driving dogs. You will enter and drive qualification races under our watchful eye. The fine art of driving a dog team on a wilderness trail with out help as race rules dictate takes time and practice, something we specialize in.
Preparing for the Race The second winter you prepare to race the Iditarod something only 613 people have ever completed. Your entry fee is paid in June and you arrive back in Alaska at Dream a Dream Dog Farm October 1st. We encourage you to spend more time this winter with your dogs and team that will carry you to Nome. This is critical not only to your success but also to your enjoyment of the Iditarod Race. Together we work on the total Iditarod picture-logistics or food drops, veterinarian care, sleds, gear, headlights, using dog boots and race schedules so you are comfortable no matter what mother nature may throw your way on the trail to Nome. You may run another qualifying race or go on long overnight treks with your team. Practice and training to sharpen and hone your skills is the plan.
Individual and Kennel Commitment
Dream a Dream Dog Farm will commit its best efforts, its best dogs and provide the best coaching and training available so you can take advantage of the opportunity to successfully complete the Iditarod. We can not warrant or guarantee that you will successfully complete either qualifying races or the Iditarod race.
Your initiative, drive and the amount of time you spend with the dogs, training and working with them, will be the most important factor for a successful completion of the Iditarod. We can provide the tools, you must provide the effort which will pay off beyond your imagination when you reach Nome with your dog team traveling under the famous Burled Arch finish line on Front Street.
